Yobuko Morning Market

Held daily in the port town of Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, the Yobuko Morning Market (Yobuko Asaichi 呼子朝市) is one of Japan's three major morning markets. Operating continuously for over a century, the 200-meter street features around 50 stalls offering fresh seafood, overnight-dried squid, and local agricultural produce.

Kujira-gumi nushi Nakao-ke yashiki

The Whaling Group Owner's House (Kujira-gumi nushi Nakao-ke yashiki 鯨組主中尾家屋敷) in Yobuko, Karatsu City (Saga Prefecture), Kyushu, is the former residence of a powerful maritime family who built a massive fortune from the Edo period to the Meiji era. This beautifully preserved, traditional townhouse is now a museum offering a fascinating look at Japan's historical whaling industry.

Nanatsugama Cave Sightseeing Cruise

The Nanatsugama Cave Sightseeing Cruise, Ikamaru (七ツ釜遊覧船,イカ丸) in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, takes you along the rugged coast of Kyushu to explore dramatic basalt sea caves. Departing from Marinepal Yobuko, the 40-minute journey allows visitors to marvel at towering hexagonal rock columns and enter some of the largest wave-carved caverns.

Atago Shrine

Perched on a serene hill in Yobuko-cho (Karatsu, Saga Prefecture), Atago Shrine (呼子 愛宕神社) is a hidden gem overlooking the Genkai Sea. Known for its peaceful, forested surroundings, it serves as a local spiritual guardian offering blessings for maritime safety, thriving business, and good fortune.

Saga Prefectural Nagoya Castle Museum

The Saga Prefectural Nagoya Castle Museum (佐賀県立名護屋城博物館) in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, is built adjacent to the historic Hizen Nagoya Castle ruins. It features exhibits on the castle's role as Toyotomi Hideyoshi's military base during his 16th-century continental campaigns, as well as the history of exchanges between Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

Genkai Underwater Observation Tower

Located at Cape Hado in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, the Genkai Underwater Observation Tower (玄海海中展望塔) is a unique, three-story undersea viewpoint. Visitors descend a spiral staircase to an observation room 7 meters deep, where they can watch local marine life swim naturally in the open ocean through large glass windows.

Hado Cape

Hado Cape (Hado Misaki 波戸岬), located on the northwestern tip of Kyushu in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, is a scenic coastal destination renowned for its panoramic Genkai Sea views. Famous for its Genkai Undersea Observatory Tower, heart-shaped monuments, and local grilled turban shells, it offers a perfect blend of nature and romance.
