Captain Veiga (ベイガ船長) Statue

The Captain Veiga (ベイガ船長) Landmark is a historical monument and regional mascot located at Kuchinotsu Port in Minami-Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu. It commemorates Captain Tristão Vaz da Veiga, a Portuguese navigator who captained the first European merchant ship to enter Kuchinotsu Port in 1567, marking the beginning of the region's historic Nanban trade era.

Kuchinotsu Dolphin Watching

Kuchinotsu Dolphin Watching (南島原賞豚) in Minamishimabara, Nagasaki, offers year-round cruises into the Hayasaki Strait to see wild bottlenose dolphins. Boats depart from the Kuchinotsu Port Terminal, taking visitors within touching distance of a resident pod of about 200 dolphins.

Obama Shrine

Obama Shrine (Obama Jinja) (小濱神社), located in the coastal hot spring town of Unzen, Nagasaki Prefecture, is a unique cultural site dedicated to the deity of hot springs. Famous for its ties to the therapeutic waters of Obama Onsen, the shrine features a striking ceiling dragon and historical artifacts, all set against the backdrop of steaming volcanic vents and Tachibana Bay.

Obama Carbonated Spring

Located in Nagasaki Prefecture on the Shimabara Peninsula, the Obama Carbonated Spring (Tansansen) (小浜炭酸泉) is the only cold spring in a town otherwise famous for its boiling hot waters. Bubbling up at a brisk 21°C, this unique, iron-rich spring is highly carbonated and famous for its rejuvenating skincare properties.

Unzen Jigoku

Unzen Jigoku (meaning "Unzen Hell") (雲仙地獄) is a dramatic volcanic area in Nagasaki Prefecture on Kyushu island. It features billowing white steam, bubbling mud pools, and a strong sulfur smell. Wooden boardwalks wind through over 30 "hells," showcasing the raw, bubbling power of underground magma.

Isahaya 諫早市

Megane Bridge of Isahaya

The Isahaya Megane Bridge (諫早眼鏡橋) is a historic double-arch stone bridge located in Isahaya Park in Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu. Built in 1839, it gets its name "Spectacles Bridge" from the two perfect stone arches that create the shape of eyeglasses when reflected in the water of Nakashima River.

Isahaya Shrine

Isahaya Shrine (諫早神社) is a 1,300-year-old Shinto shrine in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. Known as a spiritual guardian of the Kyushu region, it features massive sacred camphor trees, a large wooden statue of the legendary plague-warding Amabie, and beautiful, highly sought-after goshuin (calligraphy stamps).
