Proper NounsIn general, a proper noun is usually a word given to something physical in a particular sence. Particular things can particular person, particular place, or particular thing. Although a proper noun is usually used to name similar thing as a common noun does, a proper noun is only a reference name used to name a particular thing in a more narrow application, therefore the word itself does not actually carry the meaning of the particular thing. In fact, the same word of a proper noun can be used to name different kind of things in a particular sence or different things of the same kind in a particular sence. Sometime, the same word of a proper noun can also be used as a common noun also. Since proper noun is only a name given to something, there is no sepcific classification of a proper noun, but proper nouns can be grouped according to the thing of a proper noun represented. For example, the word city is used to describe a place larger than a town in a general sense. The word city is therefore a common. A word London can also used to name a city situated in SE England on the River Thames. Since the word London is used to name the particular city situated in SE England on the River Thames, the word London is a proper noun.
